kootenay wild fishing Charter: our boat
Our Bayliner model 288 is a command bridge cruiser with a well protected sport fishing cockpit. Our flybridge and cockpit are fully enclosed, allowing us to fish in the rain and stay dry at the same time.
Kootenay Wild's 31 ft Bayliner, is equipped to fish with two plainer boards and two down riggers*, for a total of four lines in the water.
* Please be aware that BC angling regulations only allow one fishing line per angler when there are two or more fisherman in the boat. Therefore, the boat would require a minimum of three fishermen as well as the guide in order to fully utilize the four line capacity of the boat.
Kootenay wild fishing charter: OUR fishing gear
Our boat has up-to-date electronics, including a Lowrance GPS / Fish finder, a VHF radio, and an autopilot. To catch the fish, we use Scotty down-riggers which take the lures down to the deep water fish and for surface fishing, we use plainer boards, which spread our lines out very wide. The boat is equipped with a 9.9 Mercury kicker for trolling. This boat is ideal for all weatherfishing.

Kootenay Wild Fishing Charter on Kootenay Lake, located in the West Kootenay Region, is internationally renowned for its fishing. The area boasts spectacular mountain scenery, glacier fed creeks and rivers, majestic lakes, native forests, and abundant wildlife.
Kootenay Lake has the largest species of wild Rainbow Trout known as the Gerrard. These giant Rainbows can grow to over 30 lbs. Bull Trout and Kokanee (land-locked salmon) are plentiful as well in Kootenay Lake.
